Project overview
Word Forest is a social impact organisation dedicated to reforestation in Kenya while supporting education, community development, and women's empowerment initiatives. As part of the "Drop In The Ocean" campaign, the objective was to increase awareness among UK audiences and encourage public engagement with the organisation's mission through large-scale outdoor advertising.
The creative concept, "Trees Do More", was developed to communicate the broader impact of reforestation, demonstrating how tree planting contributes not only to environmental restoration but also to education, community growth, and social empowerment.
Design process
Guided by the "Trees Do More" concept, the visual approach was designed to be welcoming, contemporary, and impactful. The brand's colour palette was used to reinforce recognition, while a clean and highly legible typographic system ensured clarity across large-scale formats.
The imagery of a Kenyan woman holding a young plant was selected to create an emotional connection and highlight the human impact of reforestation efforts. Subtle motion graphics added dynamism to the digital billboards without distracting from the campaign's core message.
Reflection
This project reinforced the principle of “less is more” in visual communication, emphasising clarity, hierarchy, and intentional design decisions in large-scale formats.
Achieving a clean and functional outcome for a socially driven campaign strengthened my confidence in my ability to translate concepts into impactful visual systems at a larger scale.
